David and Misty and Hannah!

Misty and I (David) are still wonderfully and joyfully married, but as God
has blessed us, we now we have a 14 month little girl (named Hannah Marie,
born 6 December, 2001) too - and hope have a brother or sister for her as
soon as God may bless us again! We would be thrilled to have you publish
the information about how we met on your web site, including the picture of
our wedding I originally sent you if you still have it.

We have been together as a married couple since September 23rd, 2000.

I (David) am 17 years older than Misty - but we are blessed to fit
together like a hand in a glove! We got engaged on the very first day that
we physically met each other, May 21st, 2000. Prior to this, we had
corresponded and talked on the phone for about three months, until in May I
flew down to meet and visit with Misty and her family! We had some things done by then as we had already ordered her wedding dress before I came - and I came with the engagement ring I had made for her in hand!

Needless to say, all of this shocked our families a little bit - until they each had a chance to meet us for themselves too. (We spent most of the first week I visited her organizing the wedding, and finished nearly every detail in that time)!

We had spiritually built our relationship according to God's Word -
so Misty and I had shared so much of our dreams and goals in life with each
other as we corresponded, talked on the phone, and exchanged snail-mail;
that we just both put ourselves in God's hands - to bring us together with the mate He wanted for us.

When we met, I had been raised "Congregational" (now the United Church of Christ) and had attended a few different Protestant churches over the years and Misty had been raised as a Southern Baptist.

After we got married (in a
Southern Baptist church) I also became a Southern Baptist at the wonderful church we have near our home!

We live in Virginia, very near Washington D.C. and Maryland.

Both Misty and I grew in our walk with Christ as a result of finding each other through your web site! I also did a lot of formal study of God's plan for marriage while I was seeking a wife, which helped me grow into the husband that I am today.

Thanks again for your wonderful web site and the good work you do, it sure helped Misty and I find each other!

Attached is a recent picture of the Porter family (Misty, David, and
Hannah), taken 7 Dec, 2002 - the day after Hannah's first birthday! (Note
the photo on the wall behind us, which was last year's Christmas picture - when Hannah was only about a week old! The heart above the picture frame decorated the front of Misty's car when we first got married and we drove it up to Virginia loaded with everything she owned. On the other side behind Misty is the cabinet of the ceramic and metal bells we collect from each
place we visit together - and a small model shrimp boat souvenir from the
Mississippi Gulf Coast where Misty was living before we were engaged.)!

I have also included one of my favorite pictures of Misty and Hannah, from the day Hannah was born when she was only a few hours old! To me it captures the joy, wonder, and love of receiving the gift of a child from God - a most special joy in our marriage! Hannah has always lived up to her name, as a wonderful "blessing from God" in our lives!
