I read with interest about a group starting a National Ten Commandments Day, to be celebrated February 5, 2006 and/or May 7, 2006.*
According to God's Ten Commandments in His word found in Exodus chapter 20, God says:
"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."
Some folks will tell you that the law was done away with, thousands more would contend that yes, the ceremonial laws were done away with, but not the Ten Commandment Law of God.
Jesus clearly said in Matthew:
"For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matthew 5:17-19"
Has heaven and earth passed? No. So why are folks breaking the Ten Commandments and throwing it out. Satan loves that, don't you think?
But back to the Ten Commandments Day. Yes, we need a Ten Commandments Day, but if we're going to celebrate it, let us celebrate it on the DAY OF THE WEEK that God requested we celebrate the Sabbath, the SEVENTH day, not the first. Do your scholarly research and you'll find that the Bible makes no mention at all of Jesus changing the Sabbath to Sunday, as well, Sun worship was a pagan ritual that permeated Christian ranks during captivities, etc. and was eventually setup by the Roman church, NOT by God! Even the Catholic church admits they were the ones who changed it from Sabbath to Sunday.
So why are we following man-made laws? If we're truly going to celebrate TEN COMMANDMENT DAY, let's celebrate it NOT once a year on a Sunday, but let us celebrate it as requested by our Creator, each and every seventh day.
"...the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God"
